Abstract
Displacement-based seismic design procedures require knowledge of the force displacement behaviour of both the overall building and individual lateral load resisting elements, i.e. walls or building cores. This paper will introduce the development of a user-friendly and transparent analysis program for predicting the back-bone force displacement behaviour of slender (i.e. flexure controlled) RC walls and building cores. The program has been validated and bench marked theoretically against commonly and widely used analysis packages and experimental test data. The program, which is called WHAM, is written using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and the intent is to release the program free-of-charg..
